Oboe

Tiana’s passion for music was evident early in childhood. She began studying Kodaly and Orff at the age of three; and by five, progressed to Suzuki violin lessons. It was at the age of eleven (grade 6), that Tiana discovered the oboe. Tiana performed as an oboist with the Vancouver Academy of Music Orchestral program from 2014-2020 and the Vancouver Youth Symphony Orchestra from 2016-2019.

Tiana has had the opportunity to work with numerous conductors, including Otto Tausk, Jonathan Girard, Robert Taylor, Joseph Elworthy, Kevin Zakresky, Steven Davis, Ian Parker, and Leslie Dala. In 2015, Tiana was the recipient of the Royal Conservatory of Music Brass and Woodwind Gold Medal. In 2019, Tiana performed with the Honours Performance Series High School Orchestra at Carnegie Hall. Tiana has had the privilege of playing in masterclasses with oboists such as Albrecht Mayer and Elaine Douvas.

In 2024, she completed her Bachelor of Music in Orchestral Performance at UBC while studying with Roger Cole, Beth Orson, and Geronimo Mendoza. Currently, Tiana is studying with Geronimo Mendoza at The University of British Columbia working towards the completion of her Performance Diploma. She can frequently be heard playing with the UBC Symphony Orchestra, UBC Symphonic Wind Ensemble, and a variety of small ensembles.
