👩‍🎤 Meet Your Instructor: Sam Meyer

Sam Meyer is a Vancouver-based musician with a deep passion for violin and orchestral music. His musical journey began with the violin, inspired by childhood cassettes of stories about Vivaldi and Handel. He studied violin with a member of the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra and has continued playing throughout his musical career, performing with the UBC orchestra and exploring various fiddling traditions.

Sam recently graduated with honours from the University of British Columbia, where he specialized in orchestral trumpet performance under Vancouver Symphony Orchestra principal Larry Knopp. Despite his primary focus on brass, the violin has remained a key part of his musicianship, and he enjoys researching Celtic music and exploring diverse violin traditions.

Sam brings a dynamic and engaging approach to teaching, ensuring that students of all ages and skill levels feel motivated, supported, and excited about their musical progress. His teaching philosophy centers on making lessons both fun and structured, equipping students with skills that can be applied not only to violin but also to broader musical and personal development.
